Rally Flash News (Before SS1)

Moments before the ceremonial start of the 49th International Cyprus Rally, organized by the Cyprus Automobile Association, on Friday September 24, 2021, at Eleftheria square in Nicosia, competitors spoke about their upcoming battle in the event.


Nasser AL-ATTIYAH (QAT): We are ready for the event. I am very glad to be back in Cyprus, I feel as a local here. It is a great place to race.


Abdullah AL RAWAHI (OMN): I am very happy to be here this year. It is our 4th time here and we hope to do well and we will fight. I wish all the best to everyone.


Alexandros TSOULOFTAS (CYP): We all know it is a hard race. The Cyprus Rally is one of the hardest in the world. Our target is a high position on the podium, we want to battle for the first place. We will also see our opponents in the opening of the rally and then decide our strategy.


Petros PANTELI (CYP): It is an international event in Cyprus, a big event with very tough special stages. I hope we prepared well to go as best as possible.


Rauf DENKTAS (TUR): We expect first of all to finish the race, it is a tough race, not very fast but technical. We will need luck.


Costas ZENONOS (CYP): This race is a big and tough event, with long special stages. We will try to go as fast as possible with safety and we will see.


Car No20 (A. Philippou / S. Laos) failed at pre event scrutineering and disqualified.
